Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake)

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • - 200g Nissin Okonomiyaki-Ko

  • - 260cc water

  • - 2 egg beaten

  • - 400g cabbage shredded

  • - 240g sukiyaki beef

  • - Otafuku Okonomi Sauce to serve

  • - QP Mayonnaise to serve

  • - Katsuo (bonito) flake pack

  • - Aosako (shredded seaweed) to serve

Instruction

  1. 1. Combine Okonomiyaki-Ko, water, egg and cabbage well.
  2. 2. Heat frying pan at high heat, reduce heat to medium.
  3. 3. Pour 1 and shape into a round pancake, add sukiyaki beef and pour a bit of 1 over it, cook for 2 minutes.
  4. 4. Turn over and cook the other side for another 1 to 2 minutes, put the lid on and cook for another 3 - 4 minutes.
  5. 5. Place cooked okonomiyaki on a plate, pour okonomi sauce, mayonnaise, katsuo flake, aosako/beni shoga to preference.

Note

Burning okonomi sauce reminds me of an okonomiyaki restaurant in downtown Osaka. Also cut squid with shredded cabbage are a good combination of ingredients. Try oyster, shredded cabbage and spring onion as well.
